SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — A Moss Beach man accused of setting a trailer ablaze Saturday in unincorporated San Mateo County has been arrested on suspicion of arson, according to the sheriff's office.

San Mateo County deputies and the Coastside Fire Protection District crews rushed to the fire scene Saturday morning near Airport Street and Yale Avenue in Princeton-by-the-Sea. Officials said the flames spread from the trailer to a vehicle parked nearby, and further to a nearby storage facility.

First responders moved to evacuate neighbors and set up a perimeter while fire crews put down the blaze. No one was injured during the incident, but investigators estimate the fire caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage.

The sheriff's office worked with fire investigators to determine the fire was intentionally set, and identified the suspect Monday as William A. Caneitzep, 29, of Moss Beach. Investigators arrested Caneitzep on Saturday night and booked him into the Maguire Correctional Facility on suspicion of arson.

"The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office extends its gratitude to its partners at CAL FIRE and CFPD for their assistance with this investigation," the sheriff's office said in a news release. "Concerned community members also assisted with providing critical information to investigators."
