Peninsula Elves Pack Holiday Boxes for Troops in Afghanistan

The 1st Infantry Division, 3rd Bridgade, 2-2 Infantry, which is Hillsborough's adopted unit, has been deployed to Afghanistan since June, and will return to the U.S. in the spring.

Peninsula volunteers gathered at Hillsborough City Hall Wednesday to pack holiday care packages for soldiers in Afghanistan.

The 1st Infantry Division, 3rd Bridgade, 2-2 Infantry, which is Hillsborough's adopted unit, has been deployed to Afghanistan since June, and will return to the U.S. in the spring.

San Mateo's adopted unit, the Screaming Eagles, are not currently in Afghanistan. Donations for soldiers brought to San Mateo City Hall will be sent to Hillsborough's adopted unit this holiday season.
