Before the Road to Mt. Washington, There Was the Incline Rail

Nearly a century ago, Mount Washington was connected by an incline railway that is part of Southern California's funicular history still preserved on certain hillsides or in photos, films and archival maps.

The story of the neighborhood's long-forgotten residential railway can be seen and heard in a new video series by KCET called "Incline L.A."
