Councilman José Huizar also makes an appearance in the video, saying that business owners were drawn to the boulevard by low rents. Likewise, he said, customers walk the boulevard in search of low-cost products.
Huizar's Boulevard planning initiative, a collaborative community planning effort, was also mentioned in the video.

Among the projects identified by community members though the "New York" plan are along the boulevard and a across Avenue 50 from Café de Leche.
