Friends of Mount Washington School to Host Night of Comedy Fundraiser

Their budget is so bad, they have to laugh.

Some situations are just so pathetic, that the only appropriate response is laughter. That's the approach the the Friends of Mount Washington School are taking to by hosting their 7th Annual Night of Comedy this week.

The Friends will host the night of comedy at the Los Angeles River Center, located at 570 West Avenue 26, on Friday, April 27 from 6:30-9:30 p.m.

This year, Los Angeles-based comedians Dwayne Perkins and Matt Knudsen will donate their comedy to the cause.

Tickets can be purchased at parent center for $25, or at the door on the night of the event for $30.

The night of comedy will also feature silent and live auctions, with big ticket items to include a chance to participate in a five-day basketball camp in Santa Barbara run by Lakers' player Kobe Bryant, box seats to a Lakers' game, and a one week vacation in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Last year's night of comedy raised more than $20,000 from donors and sponsors, said organizer Rod Austria, and the group is hoping to exceed that goal this year in order to restore programs that are likely to be cut.

Those interested in making a donation or sponsoring the event can contact the group at ssteele0628@att.net or by phone at 323/227-7996.
