Grand Opening Today of New Grocery Store on York

A grand opening is scheduled Tuesday for a new grocery store that recently replaced a Mexican grocery market and carniceria on 5941 York Blvd.

York Valley Market, located in a mini mall on the corner of York Boulevard and Aldama Street, opened about two months ago after Chico’s and Chica’s Market closed at the same location.

The grocery store was bought by Luis Muñoz, who owns Fusion Burgers, located in the same mini mall. 

York Valley Market will mainly feature goods catered to Latino customers but will also carry “American and Asian” items, Muñoz said, adding that he will try to sell some organic products as well that stores such as Super A and Food For Less do not carry.

“I’m new to the market business but my goal is to get customers from Eagle Rock and Pasadena so that people don’t have to go to Whole Foods or Vons,” Muñoz said.
