PHOTO ESSAY: Confluence Plaza Opens With A Big Splash
The big shots came out to christen the new park where the Los Angeles River and the Arroyo Seco meet. With photos by Gary Leonard.
Los Angeles's newest park, Confluence Plaza, had its dedication Wednesday night. Politicians, parks and recreation officials and Friends of the L.A. River gathered to throw the switch on the new fountain there.
The park, on San Fernando Road in Cypress Park, is at the furthest eastern edge of the Santa Monica Mountains, just across the 5 Freeway from Elysian Park, the city's oldest park.
It's part of a larger project under the 5 and 110 freeways that will eventually create a roundabout and a fully landscaped area under the bridge there.
