Third LA Sheriff's Deputy Shot In Less Than A Week
A Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy remains hospitalized after being shot Monday night in East Los Angeles, and a suspect was killed.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy is hospitalized Tuesday after he was wounded in a shooting with three suspects in East Los Angeles that left one suspect dead at the scene.
The deputy was the third to be shot in East Los Angeles in six days.
The shooting occurred about 11:30 p.m. Monday in the 3600 block of De Garmo Drive, but exactly what led up to the shooting was unclear, sheriff's Deputy Tracy Koerner said.

The deputy was shot in the upper torso, according to a statement from the sheriff's department.
The injured deputy was taken to Los Angeles County+USC Medical Center by other deputies in a department vehicle, ABC7 said. Video from ABC7 showed the deputy leaning on colleagues, walking in under his own power.

The deputy's condition was unknown, Koerner said.
Two suspects were detained at the scene, Koerner said.
Two deputies were wounded during a shooting Wednesday at Ruben F. Salazar Park, 3864 Whittier Blvd., and a suspect was shot and killed. Another suspect was wounded and a third was taken into custody in that incident.
