The Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council is scheduled to hold its monthly board meeting today, Thursday, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Highland Park Adult Senior Citizen Center.

Here are the major items on the agenda for the meeting:

• Discussion and possible action on awarding up to $1500 through a Neighborhood Purposes Grant to Aztecs Rising, a gang intervention and violence prevention nonprofit group, to purchase food and tools for a neighborhood clean-up and to pay a stipend to the cleaners.

• Discussion and possible action on awarding a Neighborhood Purposes Grant of up to $1,500 to the Lincoln Heights Youth Association to purchase shoulder pads for their football program.

• Discussion and possible action on awarding up to $1500 through a Neighborhood Purposes Grant to the El Sereno Bicentennial Committee to partially fund their 54th annual Independence Day Parade on June 29.

• Consider the merits of funding up to $250 for purchasing flowers and plants for the Veterans’ Square Memorial Day event.

• Review an application from the North Figueroa Association, requesting up to $1,200 for a Neighborhood Purposes Grant to enable the Old L.A. Certified Farmers Market in Highland Park to host a summer music festival (Summer Daza) scheduled to be held over four consecutive Tuesdays in August.

• Review an application from Luther Burbank Middle School, requesting up to $1.500 to purchase replacement percussion heads for Drum line Corps, part of Luther Burbank’s afterschool program.

• Review an application from the Historical Society of Southern California, requesting a Neighborhood Purposes Grant of up to $1,500 to preserve and restore the master bedroom at the Lummis House.

• Review an application for up to $1,000 to replace the sound system currently in use by the HHPNC.

• Discussion and possible action to support the United Teachers of Los Angeles with a letter of support to urge the LAUSD Superintendent and the School District Board to ensure that Proposition 30 funds go to the classroom.

• Discussion and possible action on approving and submitting a drafted letter in support of the proposed Department of Transportation bike lines along N. Figueroa Street.

• Discussion and possible action to consider approving and submitting a proposed alternative bike route to the Department of Transportation.
