1. Gil Cedillo 'Trust Act' news conference
Councilmember Gil Cedillo is scheduled to host a news conference today, Wednesday, Sept. 4, to urge the City of Los Angeles to support California’s “Trust Act,” which restricts requests from federal immigration authorities for the inordinate detention of people in local jails for the sole purpose of deportation. The conference, expected to be attended by 12 immigrant rights groups, will start at 9:30 a.m. in the City Council chambers media room on the third floor of Los Angeles City Hall, 200 N.
