19th Amendment's 100th Anniversary: August 30 Virtual Celebration
Sandy Banks of the Los Angeles Times will host a virtual forum starting at 2 p.m.
HOLLYWOOD, CA — The National Council of Jewish Women/Los Angeles and the City of West Hollywood will host a virtual forum on August 30 celebrating the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote. L.A. Times journalist Sandy Banks will host a panel which includes guests such as Kat Calvin, founder of Spread the Vote, and Bamby Salcedo, President of the TransLatin@ Coalition.
The online event will take place from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and is free to attend. Carol Moon Goldberg, President of the California League of Women Voters, will also make a special presentation on understanding ballot initiatives.
The news arrives only eight days before the Hollywood Bowl was scheduled to host a concert celebrating Women's Suffrage. Along with the rest of the 2020 Hollywood Bowl calendar, the event was cancelled on May 13 as the pandemic continued to surge throughout Los Angeles.
