'Famous Valet Guy' At Landmark Bar Seriously Injured After Being Attacked At Work

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA — A longtime valet at Barney's Beanery is in critical condition after he was attacked in the bar's parking lot over the weekend. Now, his family is raising money to help cover his medical bills.

Frankie Zarazua sustained multiple injuries to his head, neck and body in the attack, which occurred Saturday. He remains at a hospital in an intensive care unit. Authorities have not identified a suspect, Barney's wrote in a social media post Monday.

Deputies responded to a call regarding an assault at Barney's just before 10:30 p.m. Saturday. The caller said the victim was attacked by a shirtless man, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department told KTLA, which aired a video of the attack.

"Frankie has been part of Barney’s team for over 30 years. He is kind, funny, and welcoming to everyone he encounters," the bar's Instagram post reads.

Zarazua is a well-known fixture among Barney's regulars, his family wrote on GoFundMe, referring to him as the bar's "famous valet guy."

Zarazua's family started a fundraising effort to help cover his medical bills, as well as time missed from work during his recovery, they wrote.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the GoFundMe has surpassed its $30,000 goal, having raised over $38,000 from 335 donors.
