Burglars Thwart Heavy Security At Hollywood Pharmacy, Make Off With Safe: Report

HOLLYWOOD, CA — A trio of thieves took only minutes to get through several layers of heavy-duty security at an East Hollywood pharmacy early Tuesday morning before making off with a safe containing drugs, NBC 4 reported.

The burglary happened at Normandy Pharmacy at Normandie Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard before 2 a.m. The thieves first sawed through a metal security gate that was locked over the store's glass facade before breaking the windows and then cutting through a second security gate in the pharmacy's interior, NBC 4 reported.

The thieves then went straight for the safe in the back of the pharmacy, unbolted it from the floor, and made off in a dark Dodge Charger in an operation that took no more than five minutes, according to the report.

The safe contained controlled substances, NBC 4 reported, which can include painkillers, stimulants and other commonly abused drugs.
