HOLLYWOOD, CA — A man who shot his ex-girlfriend in the face while she was on a break from her shift as a Metro bus driver Saturday remained at large Monday, according to authorities.

The shooting occurred at around 7:30 a.m. on Vermont Avenue, just north of Sunset Boulevard. The victim was on a break and had parked the bus to see with her ex-boyfriend, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The suspect shot the woman in the face and fled the scene on foot, police said.

"There were no other occupants on the bus at the time of the incident. Although the victim was on duty as an MTA bus driver, her duties were not a factor in the incident," police said.

Paramedics transported the woman to a local hospital, where she was listed in critical condition Saturday, police said.

Police identified the suspect as Dorian Holt, 45. He was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, dark pants and a black baseball cap with a white LA logo.

"Metro is deeply saddened by the act of domestic violence that seriously injured a Metro employee while she was on the sidewalk during a bus layover near Hollywood and Vermont," Metro spokesman Jose Ubaldo said in a statement.

KCAL identified the victim as Demetra Kimble, citing information from her family.

"Contrary to some reports, Demetra was not in a relationship with the suspect at the time of the incident," Kimble's family said in a statement. "This narrative only adds unnecessary pain and distraction from the real issue at hand — seeking justice for the senseless act perpetrated against her."
