Cahuenga Boulevard Shut Down After Hollywood Water Main Break

The break sent thousands of gallons of water into the streets and caused at least two feet of flooding near Odin Street.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — A broken water main sent thousands of gallons of water spilling into the Hollywood streets Thursday morning.

According to LADWP, a 12-inch cast iron pipe burst near 2200 North Cahuenga Blvd. around 3 a.m. The spillage caused the closure of Cahuenga Boulevard between Iris Drive and Whitley Avenue.

An LADWP spokesperson said the closure could last 8-10 hours.

"We have to shut off the water," she said. "The pipes are all located under the street."

According to CBSLA, the broken pipe caused at least two feet of flooding at Odin Street. Street signs were also seen partially submerged under the water.

LADWP crews were on scene this morning to control the flow of water while they repaired the break. The water was shut off around 7:30 a.m.
