Garth Brooks Accused Of Rape In CA Lawsuit: Reports
The country singer is accused of violently raping a hair and makeup artist in a hotel suite, according to reports.

LOS ANGELES — Country musician Garth Brooks is accused in a recently filed lawsuit of violently raping a hair and makeup artist in a hotel suite, according to reports.
The lawsuit was filed Thursday by a "Jane Roe" in a state court in California, CNN reported. It was brought by a woman who used to work for Brooks' wife, Trisha Yearwood, and was later hired by Brooks, according to TMZ.
The incident occurred in spring of 2019 in Los Angeles, where Brooks rented a single hotel room for he and the stylist, and did not allow the woman her own room when she asked for one, TMZ reported.

Brooks appeared in a doorway naked, dragged her to a bed and raped her, according to TMZ, which reported that after the attack she did Brooks' hair and makeup as usual.
In another incident earlier the same year, the woman was waiting for Brooks at his home when he exited the shower and forced her to touch his genitals, TMZ reported, adding the woman said Brooks often fondled her while she was working despite her protests.

Brooks also sent the woman sexually explicit texts, according to CNN.
"We applaud our client’s courage in moving forward with her complaint against Garth Brooks," her lawyers, Douglas Wigdor, Jeanne Christensen and Hayley Baker, told CNN in a statement. "The complaint filed today demonstrates that sexual predators exist not only in corporate America, Hollywood and in the rap and rock and roll industries but also in the world of country music.”
Brooks has denied the woman's accusations in the past but his representatives did not immediately respond Thursday to requests for comment from CNN or TMZ. He tried to block Roe from publicly bringing the allegations and filed a previous complaint as a "John Doe," in which he claimed the woman's attorney alleged sexual misconduct after "Doe" refused her request for a salary and medical benefits, according to CNN.
"Defendant is well aware, however, of the substantial, irreparable damage such false allegations would do to Plaintiff’s well-earned reputation as a decent and caring person, along with the unavoidable damage to his family and the irreparable damage to his career and livelihood that would result if she made good on her threat to ‘publicly file’ her fabricated lawsuit,” the previous lawsuit said, CNN reported.
