Hollywood Christmas Parade: What To Know Before Sunday's Event

HOLLYWOOD, CA — The 91st Hollywood Christmas Parade is set to bring merriment to the streets of Hollywood Sunday morning, with Medal of Honor recipient Col. Paris D. Davis serving as grand marshal.

Route

The parade kicks off from the Chinese Theater at 6 p.m., taking a U-shaped route east on Hollywood Boulevard, right on Vine Street and left on Sunset Boulevard before ending at Orange Drive.

Parking could be difficult: Organizers recommend taking Metro's B (Red) Line to Hollywood/Vine or Hollywood/Highland, both stations offer direct access to the route.
If you are driving, one of the best choices is the garage at Ovation Hollywood at Hollywood and Highland.
Road closures
Beginning Thursday, parking restrictions will be in effect along the route. Enforcement will begin Saturday and continue through Monday morning, according to organizers.
A number of major roads, side streets and freeway ramps will be closed before, during and after the event. Details are available on the parade's website.
Program
Longtime hosts Erik Estrada and Laura McKenzie will return to their roles one again, joined by Dean Cain, Montel Williams and Elizabeth Stanton.
Pre-parade entertainment will include performances by the Village People, pop-opera singer Anna Azerli and an appearance by the Grinch.
Notable participants include Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, dancer-singer Paula Abdul, singer Dwight Yoakum, radio host Kerri Kasem, pop duo Aly & AJ, and actors Chris Kattan, Craig Robinson, Ernie Hudson, Brandon Routh, Ming-Na Wen, Denise Richards and Tatyana Ali.
The parade will also feature 10 bands, six four-story-high character balloons, performances by the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles and California Springs Rhythmic Gymnastics. Santa Claus will also make his regular appearance.
Telecast
The parade will be taped for broadcast on the CW at 8 p.m. on Dec. 15.
