- What: Musicians Institute, College of Contemporary Music and nonprofit humanitarian organization Relief International have partnered to provide music education grants to schools located in areas devastated by the tragic tsunami that occurred in March 2011. In memoriam of the disaster’s one-year anniversary, the Jam for Japan initiative will award grants of up to $5,000 USD to eligible elementary, middle and high schools in the affected areas. The festival part, taking place from 4-6 p.m., is free of charge and will have live music, DJ sets, art, food trucks, Taiko drums and more. The concert starting at 6 p.m. will headline Elan Atias, Dave Wakeling and Matt Sorum All Star Band.

- What: Hard Rock continues their Emerging Artists Series Saturday night at the Hollywood & Highland Center featuring The Hush (9 p.m.), The Roby Duron Band (10 p.m.) and Dilana (11 p.m.). The free show is sponsored by Jagermeister. Honor MusiCares by donating $10 at the door (optional). Must be 21 or older, minors must be accompanied by an adult.

- What: See a free stand-up comedy show with Maria Bamford, Nick Turner, Hampton Yount, Grant Lyon, Keith Lowell Jensen and Matt Champagne.

BLESSING OF ANIMALS
- Where/When:, Sunday, 11 a.m.
- What: Pets are welcome to join service at 11 a.m. and receive a blessing at 12:15 p.m. in the courtyard. Bring your cat, dog, bird, hamster or goldfish. Just make sure to have your pet on a leash or in a carrier.
