LA Honors Its Homegrown TV Shows: Is Your Favorite Show Local?

The sixth annual Made In Hollywood Honors celebrated dozens of Emmy-nominated shows that were locally made.

LOS ANGELES, CA — The sixth annual Made In Hollywood Honors for Television was held Wednesday and honored 24 Emmy-nominated productions that were locally made.

The event was held at the program's official venue, 1600 VINE, and matched the highest number of awards given out in its six-year history, with Emmy nominations spread over eight categories.

The event was co-hosted by Los Angeles City Councilman Mitch O'Farrell, and actresses Rene Taylor and Diane Ladd.

"Rene Taylor and Diane Ladd have distinguished themselves as giants in the entertainment industry," O'Farrell said. "Their brilliant comedic and dramatic skills are well known, and they each exhibit personal charm that Hollywood as the entertainment capital of the world is known for."

This year's nominees are drawn from eight Emmy production categories, including ABC's "Blackish," HBO's "Westworld" and Adult Swim's "Rick and Morty."

O'Farrell said the number of MIHH recipients is "a reflection of the great work that the state of California has done to provide competitive tax incentives to support local production, as well as the work in such organizations as the California Film Commission, Film L.A., Inc., and the other MIHH sponsors to accelerate bringing production activity home to Hollywood."

The Made In Hollywood Honors was initiated in 2011 by former Councilman Tom LaBonge and O'Farrell, whose two districts encompass Hollywood. The program's objective is to celebrate film and television productions made in Hollywood and California.

Co-partners with the Los Angeles City Council on the program are SAG- AFTRA, FilmL.A., California Film Commission, Teamsters Local 399, Film Musicians Secondary Markets Fund and Producers Guild of America, and co-sponsor 1600 VINE.
