VIDEO: PETA Activists in Body Paint Protest in Hollywood

At the peak of the holiday shopping season, PETA stages a protest in front of Hollywood & Highland and encourages consumers to buy cruelty-free animal products.

Four animal rights activists wearing next to nothing, but covered in body paint drew a crowd of onlookers along Hollywood Boulevard Friday afternoon.

The models dressed as a leopard, snake, cow and tiger were part of a campaign by the People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) to discourage customers from buying animal products while doing their holiday shopping. The activists held up signs that read "Animal Prints Not Skins."

Matt Bruce, assistant campaigner for PETA, said the group planned to stay for an hour in front of Hollywood & Highland.

"The people of Hollywood deserve to know that a lot of the fur here in America comes from China where dogs and cats are routinely skinned alive and mislabled as other species so the fur trim on your coat or collar may be the skin of a tortured dog or cat," Bruce said.

Naturally, the activists drew stares from a crowd of mostly tourists who stopped to take photos. Watch the video above to see their reactions.
