Officer Bitten During Scuffle Wednesday Night

A Los Angeles police officer was bitten by a person during a physical struggle in Hollywood on Wednesday night, authorities said.

The officer came into contact with the person when a struggle happened near De Longpre and Ivar avenues about 9:30 p.m., Los Angeles Police Department Officer Karen Rayner said.

The suspect bit the officer, she said, and he was rushed to a hospital with bite wounds. It was unclear where the officer was bitten on his body.

The suspect sustained unknown injuries, Rayner said. He was taken to a hospital where he was in police custody.
