Police Officer Shot In Hollywood; LAPD Says Friendly Fire

Officers were responding to a suicide call in the area of Santa Monica Boulevard and Wilton Place.

An officer was shot in the arm Wednesday afternoon as police were responding to an attempted suicide near Santa Monica Boulevard and Wilton Place.

Los Angeles Police Department said officers arrived at 1130 N Wilton Pl around 2:10 p.m., when they came into contact with the subject and a Rottweiler. Shots eventually rang out and a female officer was struck in the arm by what the LAPD is calling "friendly fire." Her injuries are said to be non-life threatening.

The suspect was eventually taken into custody and the dog was taken to a local vet. LAPD says the man wielded a pair of scissors but made no mention of whether or not he had a firearm.
