2 Women Stabbed in Hollywood Apartment, Police Say

Two women were stabbed by their neighbor inside a Hollywood apartment late Monday night, authorities said.

The neighbor banged on the door of an apartment in the 1200 block of North Gordon Street, near Fountain Avenue, around 10:55 p.m., Los Angeles Police Sgt. George Hoops said.

The women opened the door for their neighbor when he started acting strange and he then attacked them, Hoops said.

A woman in her 60s was stabbed in the eye and taken to a nearby hospital, Hoops said. She was talking and in stable condition before surgery. A 24-year-old woman was stabbed in her left hand and taken to a hospital. Her 3-year-old son was unharmed and is in protective custody Tuesday.

The neighbor had a knife wound to his shoulder, Hoops said. The man was also taken to the hospital and remains in police custody. Officers at the scene said the man may have been under the influence of alcohol or narcotics, Hoops said.
