Resurfacing Planned for Hollywood Boulevard and International Family Film Festival Begins

Also, Travelocity's gnome makes an appearance at a Hollywood restaurant.

Weather: Expect mostly sunny skies with a high near 70 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight, mostly cloudy with a low around 52 degrees and patchy fog after 11 p.m. Sunrise: 7:04 a.m. Sunset: 7:01 p.m.

Lowest gas prices: According to LosAngelesGasPrices.com, the cheapest regular gas in the area is $3.91 a gallon at the Arco Gas Station on 6200 Franklin Ave. and Gower Street. The next cheapest is $3.93 a gallon at the Shell Gas Station at 5657 Sunset Blvd. near North Wilton Place.

Roadwork ahead: Area 6 Chairman of the Hollywood Hills West Neighborhood Council, wrote to neighbors Tuesday that a portion of Hollywood Boulevard is under preparation for resurfacing. "We just received official word from CD4 that the resurfacing of Hollywood Boulevard between La Brea and Fairfax began last week with the prepping of the curbs and bus lanes," he wrote in an email blast. "Neighbors will soon receive a flier with details on the length of the project, traffic interruptions, contact names and numbers of Street Service personnel involved in the project. I will send an EBLAST when I receive the information. This is long overdue and we've been pushing for this for years.  Having a smooth, flat Hollywood Boulevard will be well worth the inconvenience."

Opening night: Tonight the 16th International Family Film Festival kicks off in Hollywood. The line-up includes a screening of Cafe staring Jennifer Love Hewitt and Horizon, the first Mongolian language film ever produced, according to organizers. Both screenings are followed by a question and answer session with the filmmakers and attending stars. The festival runs through March 20. Opening night tickets: $25.

Office hours: I'll be at Dillon's Irish Pub on Thursday to check out the scene at 6 a.m. Yes, that's right, the restaurant and bar is getting a head start on its St. Patrick's Day festivities. Who shows up for a taste of green beer that early in the morning? I'll be snapping photos, Tweeting and working from my laptop inside  the restaurant until 9:30 a.m. Stop in if you're in the neighborhood. I'd love to meet Hollywood Patch's readers! I'll have some Patch swag for those of you you drop in.  Also worth noting, the restaurant is offering several St. Patrick's Day breakfast specials like green eggs and ham.

And just for kicks: Travelocity's gnome was spotted at Cleo's Restaurant. Take a wild guess where he was spotted... An adminstrator for the restaurant's Facebook page posted a photo of its location.
