Five women were up for Actress In A Leading Role at the 88th annual Academy Awards.

The winner was Brie Larson for her performance in ‘Room.’

Larson played Joy in director Lenny Abrahamson’s film about a woman and her son held captive by the son’s father.

Born Brianne Sidonie Desaulniers, Larson got her start working for Jay Leno.

“The thing I love about movie-making is how many people it takes to make it,” she said during her acceptance speech.
