Affordable Fun: Scholarships & Tuition Assistances for Summer Camp

Performing Arts Workshops, VOTED BEST SUMMER CAMP in LA Parent Magazine, announces that 200 scholarships for Summer Camp are available!

Spring is here and as the days grow longer and the sun shines a little brighter, the excitement for summer break starts to build in every classroom and household. For children summer is the time that they get to trade their textbooks and school bells for fun, adventures, and making cherished memories. For parents however, the joy of summer break is often overshadowed by a familiar and daunting challenge; how to keep their kids engaged and cared for while juggling the rising costs of everything else. Memories of a carefree childhood summer contrasts sharply with the economic realities many families now face. Yet, as overwhelming as the financial burden may seem, parents hold on to hope, fueled by the desire to give their children a season of fun, creativity, and enrichment. This determination sets the stage for a summer that could be full of unexpected opportunities and community support.

Financial pressures can weigh heavy during the summer season, but Performing Arts Workshops, winner of BEST Summer Camp in LA Parent Magazine, is offering a lifeline for families seeking quality summer camps without breaking the bank. PAW has been a beacon of creativity and arts education for children for over 30 years. Our mission is simple yet profound: make arts education accessible to all. We have strengthened our commitment by providing quality arts-based classes and camps to children regardless of finances. This has been made possible through our 2 scholarship programs and our special family discounts.

PAW’s 1st scholarship program is the MATCHING FUND SCHOLARSHIP. Through a generous donation, 200 scholarships for PAW’s Musical Theater Camp are available on a first-come, first-served basis until they are gone! For the 17th year their donor, a Los Angeles community member and arts advocate, wants to make sure that every child in Los Angeles can have the opportunity to experience a Performing Arts education. She believes that exposure to the arts at a young age is essential for a child’s growth, development, and academic success. She created this fund so that children can use their summers to build on what they learned in the classrooms during the school year in a fun and exciting way! The Matching Fund Scholarship provides half of the tuition for any of PAW’S Musical Theater Camps when the parent matches the remaining $480 for the two-week session. With a limit of one scholarship offered to each child in a family, there are no conditions or prerequisites. To receive an authorized (MFS) scholarship, a parent only needs to call the PAW office at (310) 827-8827 to be placed in the donor book.

PAW’s 2nd scholarship program is the AMBASSADOR SCHOLARSHIP. This scholarship is intended for families wishing to maximize their children’s summer camp options or create summer camp opportunities for children who would otherwise go without them. The PAW Ambassador Scholarship is a service-in-exchange for tuition program. By volunteering just ONE DAY (or a total of 8 hours as your schedule permits) you will receive half off your summer camp tuition and help to further PAW’s arts education mission. Simply by spreading the word to other parents and families about our camps, scholarships and many discount programs, you will be enabling more children in your community to enjoy the benefits of a rewarding summer camp experience. The Ambassador Scholarship is truly a win-win opportunity. You can even be a repeat ambassador and enjoy half off every session of camp you enroll in, for each 8 hours of service you volunteer. You can learn more about PAW’s Ambassador Scholarship by calling the PAW offices or visit the Ambassador page on our website: https://performingartsworkshops.com/paw-ambassador-scholarships/

Cheryl Appleman, president of Performing Arts Workshops, created these scholarship assistance programs because she feels every child should be afforded the opportunity to experience the arts, and all that the arts have to offer in the way of character building, life skills, and academic enrichment. “I know many of the families we serve and know the hardships they’re going through. When your child is passionate about something and you have to tell them, ‘no’, because of finances, that really hurts. I remember what that’s like. I developed our scholarship and discount programs because I was a scholarship kid, too. My dance teacher took me under her wing and gave me the opportunities and guidance I needed. Her scholarship made it possible, and it changed my life.”
