The County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously at its Tuesday meeting in favor of a $720,000 grant to restore three acres of native oak woodlands at La Canada Flintridge's Descanso Gardens.
The grant will pay the vast majority of the $785,000 cost of a project to develop three acres of existing parkland into a habitat with native Southern California oak trees.
The money will go towards landscaping, planting, building seating areas and setting a path through the area, according to the county's staff report.
The species planted will include Coast Live Oak Trees, seasonal wildflowers and more native plants, according to a county release.
More on the project can be found in this Pasadena Star-News article from October of 2012.
