Photo of the Day: Angeles Crest Highway Re-Opens to Eager Motorists
The California Department of Transportation opened the section of State Route 2, Angeles Crest Highway, closed for 18 months.
To a stream of awaiting motorcyclists, bikers and double-axled drivers, officials from the California Department of Transportation opened the gates to closed-off State Route 2 Friday morning. Authorities closed the sinuous stretch between La Cañada Flintridge and the Angeles Forest Highway after the 2009 Station Fire, the largest fire in Los Angeles County history.
