Familes flocked to ' Harvest Garden Family Day Thursday where Steve Mehren, executive director of Saving Wildlife International, displayed several critters to an attentive audience. He talked about wildlife conservation, animal handling and environmental concerns, said Jamie Bray, spokeswoman for Descanso.

The Harvest Garden, Descanso's "secret garden," provides educational opportunities to students with special needs. Students and their teachers and families attended Thursday's event, Bray said.
