Police Arrest Suspected Carjacker
A 23-year-old pedestrian pulled a gun on a La Cañada driver and attempted to steal his car, authorities say.

A 23-year-old Pacoima man threatened a La Cañada driver at gunpoint and attempted to pry open his door before the driver sped away, authorities said.
Although the incident happened at La Cañada and Foothill boulevards, Glendale Police arrested Jose Pablo Guevara on suspicion of attempted carjacking, after an investigation by Glendale and uncovered a similar alleged crime in the 2000 block of Montrose. Glendale Police patrols Montrose.
The La Cañada incident occurred just before 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 18, according to a CV Sheriff's report. A 22-year-old La Cañada man and his 20-year-old La Crescenta passenger, were stopped at a light at La Cañada and Foothill boulevards. The men told police that three male Hispanics were walking west bound on Foothill, when they approached the car on the driver's side. One of the suspects pointed a black hand gun at the driver and ordered both men to get out of the car, the report states. Meanwhile, the man brandishing the gun "aggressively tapped'' the weapon on the vehicle's door frame.

"In fear for their lives, '' the La Cañada man sped away, contacting a sheriff's deputy on Foothill Boulevard and Chevy Chase Drive, according to the report.
The dent and scratch on the driver's side door is estimated to have caused $1,000 damage, the report states, noting that could lead to a vandalism charge. At the time of posting, it was unclear what happened to the other suspects.
