Poll: Who Should Be LCF's 2011 Person of the Year?

These nominees are your town's public servants and parent volunteers nominated to be La Cañada's 2011 Person of the Year. Vote for one in our Patch poll--the winner will be profiled in a story on LCF Patch.

It didn't take resident Jack Schaedel long to tick off a list of his suggestions of local folks who have helped make La Cañada a better place.

And from this list of tireless community advocates, you may now choose one to be named LCF Patch's 2011 Person of the Year. The winner will be profiled on the website. Please peruse the following nominees -- and their credentials as described by Schaedel -- and vote for your pick.

The person with the most votes by midnight Sunday will win.

Nominees:

  • Craig Mazin: conceptualized, organized, and energized the LC Task Force, which bolstered fundraising for La Cañada Flintridge Educational Foundation, and raised $2 million in donations.
  • AJ Blumenfeld: Overcame the skepticism of many when this 20-year-old college student won a seat on the La Cañada Unified School District's Governing Board in November. Blumenfeld spurs community conversation on educational issues through social media outlets and his Education Action Committee.
  • Ellen Multari: A relative newcomer to LCF, who has jumped in with both feet and full heart to provide countless hours of service through PTA and LCFEF, and ran a successful campaign to capture a seat on La Cañada's school board.
  • Kathy Hernandez: For nearly 20 years has set the gold standard for public service and school involvement. Leverages social media technology to communicate and drive results for our schools and our communities. Now employed at the Rossier School of Education at USC, Hernandez continues to evangelize on education, communication and social media issues.
  • Pat Anderson: Her leadership at LCF Chamber of Commerce has made LCF a better place to do business. Her organization has allowed the LCF business community to provide events, sponsorships and educational/leadership opportunity to LCF youth, all of which makes LCF a better place.
