Speed Plus Rain Equals Walls of Water (Photos & Video)

Motorists on Foothill Boulevard paid little attention to the pool of water collecting in front of Viro Drive, during Wednesday's first rainstorm of the fall.

Rain Showers moved out as the wind blew into the Foothills Wednesday afternoon, but not before gushing rains knocked over trash cans and walls of water doused pedestrians.

In La Cañada, several motorists cruising along Foothill Boulevard at Viro Road wholly ignored the pool of water that collected in the uneven asphalt, lobbing gobs of water in both directions. Cars heading east and west past looked like they drove into a lake.

Although deputies investigated a report of "wagonloads of dirt'' crumbling down a construction site at Willowhaven Drive and Rock Pine Lane in La Crescenta, the sliding stopped quickly when authorities affixed a tarp to the hillside, he said.
