Verdugo Hills Hospital Announces New Clinical Director

Veteran nurse Marian McCann of Los Angeles will oversee the hospital's Perioperative Services Department.

recently announced the addition of a new Clinical Director of Perioperative Services, Marian McCann. McCann will oversee the Perioperative Services department, which deals with a patient’s entire surgery process from hospitalization to discharge.

McCann, a Los Angeles native, received her nursing education at Los Angeles County - USC Medical Center and later served there as a nurse recruiter. She has more than 30 years of nursing experience in various clinical area departments including labor and delivery, operating rooms, psychiatry, ambulatory services and emergency room.

McCann later worked at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, where she assisted with the early clinical applications of minimally invasive surgery. Before joining VHH, she served as the Executive Director of Bone and Joint Service Line at Hawaii Pacific Health. She has extensive knowledge in operational leadership as well as clinical development and is currently enrolled in an Executive MBA program with Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

“Patients come to us (operating room) because of the environment we provide,” said McCann. “People are vulnerable and anxious about surgery, so we focus on taking excellent of them.”
