
I'd like to challenge ordinary people to address a messaging issue.
A poll of a thousand people showed that the majority of them (73% I think) were concerned about climate change and 64% had felt its effects and a smaller percentage were considering moving to avoid future climate change but here's the disconnect - less than half of them were concerned enough to make it a voting priority. They were more concerned about consumer living costs.
So the take-away was that those who want to make a habitable planet a priority need to change their messaging so that ordinary people understand an immediate cause and effect impact on - this is my example - the loss of insects due to the use of pesticides and habitat destruction means lower food production means economic and availability impacts for consumers.

In other words the death of ecosystems and their inhabitants, melting poles - people can't relate. And consequently won't change their own habits like pesticide use (well I'm killing ants and ants are not pollinators - also my example) and they won't take vote for what they can't directly relate to.
So the challenge is how do we change the messaging as well as personal behavior. How do we make environmental concepts relevant to the individualism that plagues humanity? Don't wait for others because their messaging is failing. We have to come up with better ideas that are comprehensible across a wide range of attention spans. I don't know the answer...lol...maybe Make America Green Again.
