Border Patrol Seizes Cocaine Shipment In Camp Pendleton; 2 Arrested
Over $810,000 worth of illicit drugs were seized in Camp Pendleton, the U.S. Border Patrol announced Monday.

CAMP PENDLETON, CA — Two men were arrested and 47.51 pounds of cocaine were seized from a vehicle on the 5 Freeway near Camp Pendleton last week, according to the Department of U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
The incident was reported on Thursday, Feb. 27 at the camp's San Clemente station, which is in San Diego County, just south of the City of San Clemente.
Border patrol agents stopped the sedan, which had been driving northbound on the freeway, at around 5:45 p.m.

It was not immediately known what triggered the initial stop. According to the department, agents interviewed the man driving and requested a K-9 unit, which alerted agents to the trunk of the vehicle.
Agents searched and apparently found white trash bags filled with cellophane-wrapped cocaine.

The drugs seized have an estimated street value of over $810,000, according to the agency.
The driver and passenger — also identified as a man — were taken to a nearby station and face narcotics trafficking charges. Their names were not immediately released.
