Free Family Fun! Dana Point Festival of Whales

The 41st annual Dana Point Festival of Whales, a celebration of the annual migration of California gray whales from Alaska to Baja California, continues this weekend with classic car exhibits, art exhibits, outrigger canoe races, sand sculpting, live music, a clam chowder cook off, whale-watching excursions and environmental activities. The Mickey Munoz Mongoose Cup, which will feature standup paddling clinics, the Waterman Expo, the SUP relay races for the Mongoose Cup and a barbecue, will be held at Baby Beach, OC Sailing and Event Center, 34451 Ensenada Place. The race will begin at 12:30 p.m. More than 100,000 people are expected to attend the festival, which will continue through Sunday. Dana Point Headlands Conservation Park, at the terminus of Street of the Green Lantern, and the Ocean Institute, 24200 Dana Point Harbor Drive.
