Get Dana Point a Skatepark? The First Step is a Facebook Page

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a simple upload.

Laguna Niguel has one of Orange County's better skateboard parks -- 20,000 square feet of concrete-covered nirvana.

So it was probably just a matter of time that some Dana Point folks, tired of schlepping inland, starting yelling for a skate park of their own.

A couple of weeks ago, skate lovers launched a Facebook page pointedly titled Get Dana Point A Skatepark. It's definitely sparked a conversation, with posted comments, ideas for possible park locations, design drawings, photos, and more.

The stated goal: "Skaters in Dana Point don't have any local place to go, causing us to travel out to another city if we want to skate any park. Help gain a small street plaza in Dana Point!"
