Captain Frank Gonzalez has been selected as the new Chief of Dana Point Police Services, the department said Wednesday.

LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA — A new chief will take over in Dana Point, after the Orange County Sheriff's Department announced the Captain Frank Gonzalez would serve as the new Chief of Dana Point Police Services.

Gonzalez has served the Sheriff's Department since 2006, when he was assigned to the Crisis Negotiations Team as a deputy and a sergeant, and also supervised the Behavioral Health Bureau, leading the operational team tasked with engaging with those experiencing homelessness and people with mental health needs.

More recently, Gonzalez served as Captain for Court Operations, overseeing daily public safety services for the county's justice centers.
