LA JOLLA, CA — How blue is the water at La Jolla Cove? The fifth bluest in the nation, according to a new report.

That's based on a color analysis of 53 U.S. waterways conducted by SIXT. The car rental company matched each beach's water to the closest color Hex code, a series of numbers and letters used to produce specific colors digitally, according to a news release from the company.

The nation's bluest water is at Blue Hole, a lake and popular tourist destination in New Mexico. Alaska's Chena Hot Springs ranked second and Florida's Las Olas Beach ranked third.
