University Of San Diego Coach Arrested In Oakland: Report

Lamont Smith was reportedly arrested in Oakland following the game against the University of San Francisco.

SAN DIEGO, CA -- University of San Diego basketball coach Lamont Smith was reportedly arrested this weekend following a domestic violence incident. 10News said Smith was arrested at the Oakland International Airport following the USD-University of San Francisco game Saturday.

10News reported "The victim told police she was intimately involved with Smith. She was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries."

Smith faces three charges, the news station said.

The university released a statement on the alleged incident, saying “We are aware of the report of allegations related to Lamont Smith. We have very few details at this time but will be gathering information and commencing an immediate review of the matter.”

Smith, 42, has led the men's basketball team for three years. He previously worked at the University of New Mexico.
