100 MPH Speed Kills Young Motorcyclist On I-215 In Menifee
The rider rear-ended a Chevy Camaro driven by a 24-year-old Lake Elsinore resident.

MENIFEE, CA — A 19-year-old motorcyclist who died after smashing into a vehicle on Interstate 215 over the weekend in Menifee was riding at an excessive speed, according to a preliminary report from the California Highway Patrol.
At about 8:35 p.m. Saturday, Gabriel Ruiz Valles of San Diego was riding southbound on the freeway on a 2021 Aprilia RS 660. Just north of Scott Road, he came up behind a Chevrolet Camaro in the #1 lane that was traveling at about 70 mph, according to CHP officer Mike Lassig.
"For reasons which are under investigation, the male motorcycle rider failed to slow as he approached the rear of the Chevy Camaro, causing the front of the motorcycle to collide into the rear of the Chevy Camaro," Lassig said.

The motorcyclist, later identified as Ruiz Valles, was ejected from the bike and died at the scene. He had been riding at about 100 mph when he rear-ended the Camaro, according to Lassig.
The Camaro driver, a 24-year-old Lake Elsinore resident, remained at the scene and cooperated with the CHP investigators. No charges are pending against the motorist, Lassig said.

The CHP Temecula Area Office is continuing to investigate the crash. Witnesses are urged to contact the office at 951-466-4300.
