2 RivCo Women Survive Strangling, 1 Man Arrested From RivCo Home: Cops

A Los Angeles man is behind bars after one of his two victims fought back during the incident, officers say.

LAKE MATHEWS, CA — Riverside County Sheriff's Department deputies arrested a 39-year-old man suspected of attempting to strangle both a former girlfriend and a second woman, thought to be a minor, Thursday.

Shortly after 2:15 a.m., deputies responded to the 16000 block of Angle Canyon Drive, in the unincorporated area near Lake Mathews, on reports of an assault, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Patrick Montalvo.

Curtis Deshawn Lowe, a Los Angeles man, was identified by the victims as a person of interest. He was ultimately arrested after a brief trip to the hospital, according to Montalvo.

"The second woman managed to defend herself, inflicting injuries on Lowe," Montalvo said. "Lowe and both victims were taken to a hospital, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries."

Through the investigation, it was learned that Lowe both choked and assaulted both victims, according to the numerous felony charges against him, according to the statement.

Lowe was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center and was being held without bail on suspicion of two counts of attempted murder, according to jail records. He awaits a July 29 court date at the Riverside County Hall of Justice.
