215 Freeway Traffic, Lane Closures Due To Salvage Yard Fire

RIVERSIDE, CA — A fire that burned Monday at an auto salvage yard in Riverside forced the closure of Interstate 215 lanes.

The 3-acre blaze was reported at 9:15 a.m. at 2011 Spruce Street.

Amid Santa Ana winds, the fire burned toward the freeway, temporarily shuttering some southbound lanes.

Numerous vehicles and trailers were burned at the salvage yard, authorities said.

The cause of the fire is unclear, and the investigation is ongoing. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
