25-Year-Old Corona Man Killed In 91 Freeway Crash

The rush-hour crash was reported on the eastbound side of the freeway, in the victim's hometown.

CORONA, CA — The identity has been released of a man killed Monday afternoon in a crash on state Route 91 in Corona.

Jaren Wilson, 25, of Corona died at the scene of the crash that was reported just before 4 p.m. on the eastbound side of the freeway, near the Sixth Street offramp, according to the coroner's office.

Wilson was driving a 2018 Nissan Versa in the #3 lane when he veered onto the right shoulder, where a 2022 Freightliner Cascadia was stopped. The semi-trailer truck was disabled, and the vehicle's hazard lights were activated, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

For reasons still under investigation by the CHP, the Nissan smashed into the rear end of the Freightliner. After impact, the Nissan continued onto the Sixth Street onramp, where the car's solo occupant — later identified as Wilson — was ejected, the CHP reported.

Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene by fire personnel.
