Brush Fire Erupts Near Perris Valley Airport

There were no reports of aircraft down in the area, according to Cal Fire, in the fire that remains under investigation.

PERRIS, CA — A fire erupted Wednesday just west of Perris Valley Airport, scorching nearly a half-acre before crews got it under control.

The non-injury blaze was reported about 11:45 a.m. near the intersection of Goetz and Mapes roads, just beyond the airport property boundary, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames burning at a moderate rate through open space, not threatening any structures.

Firefighters quickly encircled the brusher, stopping its spread at 12:05 p.m., according to officials at the scene.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
