Brush Fire Near Lake Elsinore Now 100% Contained

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — Firefighters Sunday achieved 100% containment of a 55-acre brush fire in an unincorporated area near Lake Elsinore.

At 5:12 p.m. Sunday, Riverside County Fire Department officials reported that with the fire zone completely surrounded by lines of cleared vegetation, firefighters were clearing the area.

The fire was initially reported at 12:30 p.m. Saturday near the area of Crumpton Road and Highway 74, where crews reported smoke showing and the fire burning at a moderate rate of spread in medium fuels, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Evacuation orders were downgraded to warnings and then all warnings were lifted, Cal Fire officials said at 7:50 p.m. Saturday.
