Coroner IDs Victim Of Lake Elsinore Fatal Crash

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — A Menifee man died Thursday morning after a two-vehicle traffic collision in Lake Elsinore.

The Riverside County Coroner's Bureau identified Edgar Orozco Martinez, 25, of Menifee, as the crash victim, following notification of his next of kin.

Shortly after 11 a.m., deputies assigned to the Lake Elsinore Sheriff's Station responded to the crash at Via De La Valle and Plaza Valenza on reports of a major traffic collision, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office.

Orozco Martinez suffered critical injuries as a result of the crash, according to the department. They administered first aid until paramedics responded and took over.

Despite continuous life-saving measures, the patient was pronounced dead at the scene. Lake Elsinore Sheriff's Station Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team detectives responded to the location to lead the investigation.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle was traveling southbound on Via De La Valle moments before it collided with the rear of a parked car and struck a pedestrian.

Sheriff's officials said the driver of the vehicle that hit the parked car remained at the scene and was cooperative with investigators.

The cause of the collision remained under investigation Thursday evening. The area of Via De La Valle was temporarily closed as detectives worked to investigate the scene and collect evidence.
