Coroner IDs Woman, 18 and Man 24, Killed In RivCo 4th Of July Weekend Crash

The Eastvale woman and Jurupa Valley man died at the scene after a suspected DUI driver collided with their vehicle.

EASTVALE, CA — A 24-year-old Jurupa Valley man and an 18-year-old Eastvale woman both died in a crash over the 4th of July holiday weekend, the Riverside County Coroner's Bureau confirmed.

The Riverside County Coroner's Bureau released the names of the deceased after notifying their next of kin. They were identified as Javier Rios of Jurupa Valley and Sabrina De Lara of Eastvale. Both were declared dead at the scene as a result of the crash.

The crash occurred Saturday, July 5, 2025, at about 2:50 a.m. Deputies assigned to the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the area of Limonite Avenue and Beach Street, Jurupa Valley, on reports of a traffic collision, according to a department statement. When deputies arrived at the scene, they located two vehicles blocking the eastbound lanes of Limonite Avenue, west of Beach Street.

One of the involved vehicles, a van, had several unrestrained passengers at the time of the collision. Two van passengers had obvious signs of trauma and were pronounced deceased at the scene. Both drivers, along with additional passengers from the van, were transported from the scene to local hospitals with injuries, according to the sheriff's department report.

At the conclusion of the on-scene investigation, the driver of the van, Bryan Cruz-Arenas, a 23-year-old resident of Jurupa Valley, was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and one count of driving under the influence causing death/injury. Crus-Arenas was being held on $75,000 bail and was slated to appear in court at 8 a.m. Wednesday in Riverside.

The collision investigation required the temporary closure of Limonite Avenue, between Bain Street and Beach Street, to process the scene and collect evidence until approximately 11:55 a.m. This is an ongoing investigation, and no further details are available at this time.
