DUI Checkpoint Planned In Wildomar
The weekend checkpoint will be staffed by deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff's Station.

WILDOMAR, CA — The Riverside County Sheriff's Department announced it will hold a DUI checkpoint this weekend in Wildomar.
Staffed by deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff's Station, the checkpoint will operate from 7 p.m. Saturday, June 7, to 3 a.m. Sunday, June 8. The law enforcement agency did not disclose the checkpoint location.
"Checkpoint locations are chosen based on a history of DUI crashes and arrests," the sheriff's department said.

During the checkpoint, deputies will look for signs that drivers are under the influence of alcohol, drugs, and/or medications that can interfere with the safe operation of a motor vehicle.
"Always follow directions for use [of medications] and read warning labels about 'driving' or 'operating heavy machinery,' which includes driving a vehicle," the sheriff's department said.

Drivers convicted of a DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license, according to the agency.
Funding for the checkpoint is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the sheriff's department said.
