Firefighter, 2 Dogs Injured In Riverside County House Fire

NUEVO, CA — A fire that erupted Monday in a Nuevo home destroyed the property and left a firefighter and two dogs injured before it was contained.

The blaze was reported at 3:25 p.m. at 28880 Lakeview Ave., near 12th Street, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames raging in the single-story house, from which the occupants safely escaped with their pets.

Two pit bulls suffered unspecified injuries in the fire, which caused the residence's entire roof to collapse, according to reports from the scene.

A firefighter suffered undisclosed minor injuries and was taken to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley for treatment.

There were no reports of civilian injuries.

The blaze was contained shortly before 4 p.m.

Department of Animal Services officers were requested to take charge of the injured dogs and provide veterinary care.
